Arrowhead’s Rob Gibbons shot a 1-under-par 71 Wednesday afternoon and stood at 6-under 138 through the first two rounds of the 25th Southworth Senior PGA Professional National Championship at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Gibbons, 57, had two eagles, two birdies and five bogies over the PGA Golf Club’s Ryder Course and was in position with several golfers still on the course to easily make the cut for the final 36 holes on Thursday at Friday at the Wannamaker Course.

The low 35 finishers earn a berth in the 75th Senior PGA Championship, May 22-25 at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor, Mich.

Gibbons was tied for second, two shots off the pace, after Tuesday’s opening round when he bounced back from a bogey on his first hole with four birdies and an eagle en route to a 67 on the Wannamaker Course.

First-round leader Stan Cooke of Homosassa, Fla., had six birdies and an eagle for a 65, while Frank Esposito Jr. of Monroe Township, N.J., shot 67 to tie Gibbons.
