Loughridge won two matches on Tuesday, including a 6-3, 6-3 decsion over Santiam Christian's Tessa Kier

by: JIM BESEDA/MOLALLA PIONEER - Molalla's Heather Loughridge advanced to Wednesday's quarterfinals of the Special District 2 championships at the Portland Tennis Center in Northeast Portland.Molalla's Heather Loughridge will face Estacada's Sarah Rempelos in Wednesday's 9 a.m. quarterfinal of the Special District 2 girls' tennis championships at the Portland Tennis Center in Northeast Portland.

The winner advances to Wednesday's 1 p.m. semifinals and earns a berth in May 22-24 OSAA Class 4A/3A/2A/1A state tournament at Oregon State University in Corvallis.

Loughridge opened district play Tuesday morning with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Stayton's Morgan Fredericks, and then came back in the afternoon to defeat Santiam Christian's Tessa Kier 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals.

In girls' doubles, Molalla's Abby Cain and Julianne Jones defeated Brooke Hammond and Josie Kilgore of Philomath 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 Tuesday to advance to Wednesday's 11 a.m. quarterfinals against Estacada's Mayla Morgan and Shannay Rogers.
