Hunters discover body near town

A man's body was found in unusual circumstances by two local deer hunters Saturday, Oct. 4, on private property off N.W. Dogwood Lane in Madras.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department is investigating the case as a suspicious death, and the body has been sent to the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office in Portland for autopsy.
The sheriff's office did not want to give details about how the body was found until the autopsy is completed.
Sgt. Jim Adkins said, "The body had been there for a while," which has made identification difficult. He noted, the remains were a complete skeleton with hair and tissue, and said the man appeared to be 20 to 30 years old.
The deceased man did not have any identification on him, and Adkins said there are no area missing persons they are aware of to consider in the investigation.
Anyone with any information on the case is asked to contact Adkins or Detective Scott Farrell at 475-6520.
