Hispanic people from Causa and other groups, and nonHispanic supporters are delivering a petition supporting immigration reform signed by hundreds of Central Oregonians to Rep. Greg Walden’s office in Bend.

Walking on the side of U.S. Highway 97, they carried banners and signs saying “Migrant” and bearing a picture of a monarch butterfly.

“The monarch butterfly is a powerful symbol for immigrants, because it migrates from Mexico to Canada and back,” said Sara Ramirez, one of the walkers from Madras.

The walkers reached the KOA campground in Culver Sunday night, walked to St. Thomas Catholic Church in Redmond on Monday, and to Walden’s office in Bend on Tuesday.
