NASA kicks off Eclipse Week with viewing tips
Arguably, Eclipse Week in the Madras area will begin in earnest on Thursday, Aug. 17, when the National Aeronautics and Space Administration officials will take over the the Madras Performing Arts Center.
From 9 a.m. to noon, NASA officials will be handing out free eclipse viewing glasses at the PAC. During that time, starting at 10:15, scientists will be discussing solar viewing tips and providing interesting insights.
After a lunch break, the NASA representatives will be back at the PAC at 2 p.m., and will be giving out the viewing glasses through 7 p.m., with another viewing tips session scheduled for 2:15 p.m.
Along with the opportunity to grab some free viewing glasses from NASA, the day will provide a great chance to ask questions and learn from solar science experts.
The main event on NASA's busy Thursday at the PAC is at 7 p.m., when NASA scientist Dean Pesnell, a solar specialist, will be presenting "Why I Watch Solar Eclipses (and How You Can Watch Too!)"
All of the NASA events at the PAC are free.
