Fire burns railroad ties
The cause of a railroad tie fire on Sept. 25, at the railroad crossing near Northeast Fir Lane is being investigated.
According to information from Jefferson County Fire District, at 12:22 p.m., the railroad tie fire was reported. Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railroad personnel, the fire department crew and Bureau of Land Management personnel extinguished the fire and assisted with salvage of approximately 80 railroad ties.
Responding were three engines, one command vehicle, and six firefighters. A BLM engine provided mutual aid assistance.
