The Central Oregon Film Festival is in its third year. Hosted by Central Oregon Showcase, it seeks to "promote positive creative expression in Central Oregon."

The event encourages youths and adults in Central Oregon to learn the craft of filmmaking and express themselves through the medium of film. The festival then acknowledges their efforts and hard work by awarding trophies, medals and prizes.

Short films are judged by a panel of community peers. The age categories are 10-14, 15-18 and adult. The contest also has special awards in each age category, along with a Best Amateur award. Local filmmakers can win cash, prizes and prize packages donated by local business sponsors.

Filmmakers are encouraged to share their experiences of making their film as they come up to receive their awards, and the winning short films are shown during the festival.
