The Eighth Annual Shaniko Wool Gathering, Pioneer and Artisan Faire will be held July 12-13, celebrating the fiber industry of today, and Shaniko’s place as the “Wool Capital of the World” in the early 1900s.

The gathering will offer fiber artists, demonstrations of shearing, skirting, spinning, and weaving, blacksmithing, a petting zoo, and pioneer sheepherder camp display.

There will also be a photo and painting contest, “yarn bombing,” a scavenger hunt, self-tour of the town, a sale in the schoolhouse, opening of the new Shaniko Toy and Game Museum, and many vendors, shops and food.

Sponsored by the Shaniko city, chamber, and Preservation Guild, the event offers space to vendors for $10 a day. Call 541-489-3434, or visit HYPERLINK "" for more information.
