Madras woman still seeking kidney donor

Michele RuscignoMadras resident Michele Ruscigno is still in search of someone who can donate a kidney for her.

Since her article appeared in the Pioneer, 10 people have volunteered, but were declined as matches for various reasons.

Ruscigno has had diabetes for nearly 50 years, and now has renal failure. “I hope and pray that a transplant can occur before I have to begin dialysis,” the retired Madras teacher said.

Donors must be between the ages of 18-70, and have type O (+ or -) blood, but there are many other factors that must also match.

“Live donor kidneys are longer lasting than those from deceased individuals, and my insurance will pay for all medical expenses,” she said.

Anyone who would consider the possibility of donating, may get more information by calling Margaret Marksthaler at Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital, tollfree at 1-877-622-8030, or direct at 503-413-7349, or contact her at HYPERLINK "mailto:This email address is being protected from spambots.
