Run Baby Run fundraiser coming

Sept. 27, Metolius Friends Church and Cornerstone Baptist Church will be hosting the third annual Run-Baby-Run fundraiser for the Madras Pregnancy Resource Center.

In addition to the 5k run/walk and 10k run, there will be a half-marathon run for those more enthusiastic runners.

Registration is from 7-8 a.m., with races beginning and ending at the Metolius City Park, located at the corner of Sixth Street and Hood Avenue.

Proceeds of the runs will go to help Madras Pregnancy Resource Center serve clients throughout Jefferson County who find themselves in crisis pregnancies.

All services offered at the Pregnancy Centers are free of charge. Through donations, the center is able to offer services such as free pregnancy tests, first-trimester ultrasounds at the Bend and Redmond Centers, parenting classes, STD education, post-abortive counseling, and emotional support.

The pregnancy center also offers a program called Learn-to-Earn where moms or dads can take classes at PRC (or through other organizations) and earn points to spend at the pregnancy center for things such as maternity clothing, diapers, baby clothing, bouncy seats, and bassinets, along with many other baby necessities.

Central Oregon Pregnancy Resource Centers are nonprofit, Christian organizations. The goal is to give women and men educational tools to help make wise and informed decisions regarding their pregnancy, child birth and parenting skills. Each center is operated by one director and a staff of trained volunteers.

Funding is strictly through fundraising, church and individual donations.
