Metolius to celebrate new floor at train depot
A celebration of the completion of a new floor at the Metolius Train Depot will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, Oct. 13, at the depot, with a free barbecue and presentation of a plaque.
City of Metolius Public Works Director Pat Hanenkrat said the project to replace 2,000 square feet of flooring began in June and was finished around the first of September.
"We stripped the tile off and put down new vinyl plank flooring, which looks like the era planking," he said of the historic train depot.
The project, which cost $5,500, was funded with the unused portion of a fund Jefferson County had established for the county's centennial celebration. The Madras-Jefferson County Chamber also helped with the project.
"A plaque will be placed at the depot in appreciation of the county and chamber," Hanenkrat said.
