Buffs advance to bracket round after 5-1 pool play mark

The White Buffalos fell to Sisters in four sets, Crook County in three sets and then Cascade in four sets, before picking up pool play wins in Bend.

In the bracket round, though, they met eventual tournament champion Willamette (Eugene), and lost in two sets.
Against Cascade on Thursday, which was the Buffs' third match in two days, junior outside hitter Shelby Mauritson blasted 20 kills to lead the attack. Alexis Urbach chipped in 13 kills, with 3 1/2 blocks, but the Buffs fell in four, 25-19, 18-25, 25-23, 25-14.
Elle Renault had 31 assists to help lead the offense.
In a double-dual match with Sisters and Crook County on Wednesday to open the season, the Buffs fell to the Outlaws 25-15, 11-25, 25-15, 25-15, in the early match.
The Buffs then faced off with the Cowgirls to end the evening, and lost in straight sets 25-17, 25-23, 25-14.
