Hamlet takes NHS stage April 24-26

The Newberg High School Players will present “Hamlet” at 7 p.m. April 24-26 and May 1-3 in the NHS Auditorium. Tickets are $4 for students and $8 for adults.

NHS student honored by Rotary Club

The Newberg Rotary Club recently honored Newberg High School student Emily Hunsinger for her outstanding academic performance and contributions as a peer tutor. Hunsinger was honored at a Rotary breakfast where she received a certificate and praise from our community leaders.

NHS student holding track fundraiser

Newberg High School senior Hannah Green has created a fundraising site, www.newbergtrackrewards. com/splashdonation.aspx, to benefit the NHS track team. For the minimum donation of $30, donors will receive a 1-year gold membership to the site and a $25 gift card at Site members will also receive access to numerous coupons and discounts, including two-for-one restaurant deals, auto care, salon services, fast food specials and freebies, movie tickets, and more. Gifts of more than $30 are tax deductible.

CVMS 5K run coming April 26

Chehalem Valley Middle School will hold its annual Run with the Wolves 5K run/walk April 26. Check-in begins at 8 a.m., with the race starting at 9 a.m. Proceeds will benefit programs at the schools. Crater carnival set for April 26

Antonia Crater Elementary is hosting its fifth annual carnival and auction from 4 to 7 p.m. April 26. The event will feature games, prizes, a bounce house, hair salon, face painting and food provided by Jem 100. All proceeds will go toward technology purchases for students. Locals named to OSU dean’s list

Numerous local students were named to the Oregon State University scholastic honor roll for the winter term. A total of 932 students earned 4.0 grade-point averages (GPA). Another 3,634 earned a 3.5 GPA or better to make the listing.

Those earning 4.0 GPAs were Newberg natives: senior Robert Bain, senior Karla Chavez, sophomore Anthony Farr, junior Andrew Halstead, freshman Alyssa Liljequist, junior Jennifer Meissner and senior Matthew Okazaki; and one from St. Paul, junior Britney Petrjanos.

Among those from Newberg earning 3.5 or better GPAs were: senior Megan Brower, sophomore Paul Duffin, senior Elise Foster, senior Jacob Kaufman, junior Thomas Lattig, senior Michael Long, freshman Kolby Louis, senior Melissa Millhollin, junior Tyler Oathes, sophomore Charles Palmer, senior Evan Placek, sophomore Jessi Reed, senior Sarah Rim, junior Laura Steele, and senior Brittney Witmer.

Joining the group earning a 3.5 or better GPA were Dundee students: Zach Johnson, a senior; Matthew Olney, a sophomore, Taylor Teich, a freshman, Alvin Yu, a sophomore.

St. Paul students finishing with 3.5 GPAs or higher were sophomore Kyle Aceves-Morfeld, freshman Samantha Brentano, junior Taylor Brentano and senior Laurie Koch.

To be on the honor roll, students must carry at least 12 graded hours of course work.

20-year NHS reunion set for July

The Newberg High School class of 1994 will hold its 20-year reunion July 11-12. On July 11, classmates will gather for meet and greet at Ye Olde Pizza. A bring-your-own-family picnic will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 12 at Jaquith Park, followed by an adults only dinner/no-host bar event at McMenamins Old Church in Wilsonville.
