Newberg man arrested for metal theft
Public safety Accused of stealing metal for months, Philip Greene booked on secret indictment
A Newberg man was characterized recently by police as a prolific metal thief after repeatedly stealing from a Sherwood business.
Philip J. Greene, 62, was arrested on a secret indictment earlier this month and held in the Washington County jail on charges of first-degree aggravated theft and first-degree theft. He pled not guilty July 18.
Greene allegedly stole from Allied Systems Company a construction and mining manufacturer from July 2011 and January 2014. The investigation spanned 11 months before the July arrest.
Sherwood police have not released any further information discussing how much metal Greene allegedly stole or how he did so.
Greene is no longer in custody in Washington County.
