City accepting applications for large TLT grants

The city of Newberg is calling for applications for its new Marketing Grant Program aimed at boosting projects and programs that will draw tourists to Newberg. With up to $430,000 to spend this year in Transient Lodging Tax funds — taxes paid on overnight stays at hotels or other accommodations in town — the program offers grants of more than $10,000 to businesses and organizations able to demonstrate a grant will help them draw tourists from more than 50 miles away to stay overnight in town. The city will accept applications through 4:30 p.m. Oct. 9. More information and application materials are available at http://bit.ly/2urlb5O.
