Youngster looking for help tracking down family

To the editor:

My name is Mike La Rondelle and I am doing family research on my mom’s side of the family.April 2 letters to the editor

I am looking for information on Joseph M. or B. Atkinson and Samuel Wilmer Atkinson. I am looking for any information that you may have and or photographs of either. Photographs would be nice since my family does not have any.

These men are brothers and they owned the Spring Hill Dairy Farm and were very well known for their Jersey cows. They lived in the Newberg area. I do know that Joseph and Samuel owned the first creamery in Newberg. I did finally find a picture of Samuel in the creamery shop.

It would be nice to find a photograph of Joseph. He was born in Missouri and passed away on April 17, 1907, in Washington and was buried in Noble Pioneer Cemetery, which is in Yamhill County. Samuel was born 1872 or 1877 in Newberg. He passed away in Florence around March 1976. He was buried in Noble Pioneer Cemetery.

I haven’t been able to find an obituary on Samuel yet. Maybe you could help me with that?

I do know that Joseph did go back home to run the family farm around 1891.

Any information you could help me with be greatly appreciated, even if it is just pointing me in the right direction. My address is 306 N. Dakota Ave., Fruitland, Idaho 83619, my email is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and my phone number is 1-208-739-7666.
