Local winery hosts benefit for veteran organization

The Stoller Family Estate will host a benefit for the Historical Outreach Foundation from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Dayton vineyard. The event will include an auction of items donated by Willamette Valley wineries. Proceeds will benefit the HOF, to continue its efforts to collect, preserve and share military history. AHA Heartsaver, first-aid, CPR and AED classes set

For anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first-aid, CPR and AED to meet a job or other regulatory requirements, one will soon be available. Physical participation is required in order to pass. Competent completion of the course earns the student a two-year certification card. Students will be taught first-aid basics, medical emergencies and injury emergencies. The class is for ages 12 and up. Steve Hamilton will be teaching the 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. course Nov. 16 in the White Oak Room at the Chehalem Park and Recreation District headquarters, 125 S. Elliott Road. Oregon Humanities call for submissions

All Oregonians are being invited to submit an essay or article for Oregon Humanities magazine’s spring 2013 issue on the theme “Me.” Potential contributors should visit ­www.oregonhumanities.org to review the guidelines and call for submissions, and to familiarize themselves with the publication. Coping with the holidays, the loss of a loved one

“Get me through the Holidays: 10 Strategies for Coping with Loss,” is a one-hour presentation to help those who are grieving discover practical and meaningful ways to cope during the holidays. Coping strategies can be used for personal holidays, such as birthdays and anniversaries. The event is scheduled for 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Providence Newberg Medical Center in the Dundee/Sherwood conference rooms.
