Ewing Young Holiday Bazaar set for Saturday

Ewing Young Elementary School will host its 33rd annual holiday bazaar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The event will include pictures with Santa Claus, homemade crafts, live music and food from Granny’s Kitchen. For more information, call Julie at 503-307-8097.

Open Bible Learning Center offers discount

The Open Bible Learning Center, which is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., is now enrolling students in its preschool classes and childcare program. Those that register in November will receive half off the first month of tuition. The group harvested 617 pounds of apples to donate to Newberg F.I.S.H. Looney wanted to donate the apples so they wouldn't go to waste, but did not have the manpower to do it, prompting her to reach out to the local FFA chapter. 'They showed up happy and willing to work,' Looney said. 'It was incredibly impressive. They were hardworking and just a great group of kids.'

Schools hosting ‘Civil War’ canned food drives

Dundee and Antonia Crater elementary schools are holding Civil War canned food drives, where Ducks and Beavers fans compete in a battle of community service, through Nov. 27. Only the following items will be counted toward either team’s total: pork & beans, corn, green beans, tuna, soup, canned fruit, canned tomatoes, dried beans, white rice, oatmeal, cereal, flour, oil, peanut butter, macaroni & cheese, canned beans, refried beans and chili. Donations should not include rusty or unlabeled cans, perishable items, homemade items, noncommercial canned or packaged items, alcoholic beverages, mixes or sodas, or open/used items. Food collected at Dundee Elementary will be donated to the Dundee Food Pantry, whereas canned food gathered at Antonia Crater will be given to Newberg F.I.S.H. St. Paul bazaar Saturday

St. Paul Elementary School will host a holiday bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Among the items available will be Partylite, jewelry, baked goods, Enjo, Jafra, Tupperware, Mary Kay, crafts and tamales. Santa will also make an appearance for photos.
