Newberg Youth Cheer won the junior recreational division at the Oregon Cheerleading Coaches Association’s Oregon Cheer Championships Feb. 16 at Memorial Coliseum in Portland. “That was the best performance the girls have put on the mat all season,” head coach Corrinda Craig said. Fourth-grade student Haley Brown also competed as an individual, winning the title in the youth division. “Haley just knows how to bring it to the mat,” Craig said. “She has a great personality, is strong in her jumps and is improving her tumbling every year.”
