Sign up for middle school volleyball
Girls in seventh and eighth grade can sign up for the Chehalem Park and Recreation Districts middle school volleyball program. Registration will remain open until the team limit of 24 girls per grade is met, after which the player will be placed on a wait list.
The first practice will be held Sept. 4. Girls in sixth grade may register for the seventh grade wait list only. Players will be allowed to play in order of being placed on wait list if roster spots are available on the seventh grade B team as per Pacific Conference league rules.
Team meetings will be announced at a later date. Coaches are currently needed for both schools and both grades. Cost to participate as a player is $160.

Ewing Young Park to close Sept. 3
The Chehalem Park and Recreation District announced that Ewing Young Park will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 3. The skate park could possibly be closed for part of Sept. 4, as well, as George Fox University students help with maintenance on the park as part of the schools annual Serve Day.
Middle school XC registration is open
Registration for the Chehalem Park and Recreation Districts middle school cross-country program is open until Sept. 7. Runners compete in the Tri-County league with several surrounding area schools.
Most practice and meets will be during the week. Bussing will be provided for out-of-town week day meets only. Practice begins Sept. 5. Cost is $119.
