Darlene Painter-Tutmark

Darlene Painter-TutmarkDarlene “Dar” passed away peacefully her home in Portland, Oregon surrounded by family on November 25, 2013.

She was born December 16, 1937 in Brandon, Minnesota and was the third of four children. The family moved to Oregon when Darlene was five years old and settled in Vanport, Oregon. They moved to St. John’s after the Vanport flood.

Darlene graduated from St. Mary’s Academy High School. Afterwards, she attended Portland State and Portland University. Darlene married Bill Painter in 1959. Their children are Jeff, Tami, Debi, Bill and Michelle.

Along with raising her family, Darlene was a Youth Minister for Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She worked in the library at William Walker Elementary School for 25 years and retired in 2005. Darlene and Bill later divorced.

She married Peter Tutmark in 2005. They lived in the Bethany area of Washington County. Darlene and Peter were members of St. Pius X Catholic Church.

Darlene was known for inviting lots of friends and family into her home. She loved to cook for her family, host dinner parties, go out to dinner and enjoyed the arts. She always loved spending time at the beach.

Darlene is survived by husband Peter, brother Bob Stai, children Jeff, Tami (Mike), Debi (Scott), Bill (Angie) and Michelle (Keith), grandchildren Jessica, Jeffrey, Jordan Painter, Michael Jr (Katie) and Christopher Chertude and Eliana Painter, two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Rosary was held at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Mill on Tuesday, December 3, 2013. The Funeral Mass followed the Rosary. The private interment was held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Portland.

Darlene requested in lieu of flowers and gifts, that donations be made to Jesuit High School; 9000 SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, Portland, Oregon 97225 in her name.
