Jess Riley Johnson

June 26, 1972 to December 22, 2013 -


Jess Riley Johnson, 41, passed away on Dec. 22nd at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland after fighting an illness.

Jess was born on June 26th of 1972 in Enterprise, Oregon to Gary and Roseanne Johnson. Jess was raised on his beloved McKenzie River in McKenzie Bridge, Oregon where he was a valued member of the community and graduated from McKenzie High School.

Jess made a career of real estate in which he touched many lives. At the time of his passing, he worked for Keller-Williams in Tualatin, Oregon. Later in life, Jess returned to school and earned his degree in Sociology and Human Development at Warner Pacific College. Jess enjoyed guiding whitewater trips down the McKenzie, being outdoors, working on boats, and spending time with his family.

Jess had a strong faith in the Lord and was ever trusting in his word. Jess touched many lives as a father, son, brother, friend, uncle, church member, colleague, as well as in all else that he did. To know Jess was to love him.

He is predeceased by his father Gary and is survived by his children, Jordan and Myranda Johnson of Tualatin, OR; his mother Roseanne Johnson-Ray of Turner, OR; his fiancé Christina Pettner of McKenzie Bridge, OR; and his brother Tad Johnson of Johnson City, TN. Jess will forever live on in the hearts of numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, Dec. 28th at 1:00 pm at McKenzie Bridge Christian Church and a celebration of life was held at Tigard Christian Church on Sunday, Dec. 29th at 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association to be used toward the research of Alzheimer’s and dementia, as Jess would have wanted.
