Frances Gross

May 15, 1927 - February 22, 2014


Frances Gross, 86, of Woodburn Ore. died on Feb. 22, 2014 at Kaiser Sunnyside Hospital in Portland Ore.

Frances was born on May 15, 1927 in rural Dodge N.D. She was the last surviving child of 13 children of Adam and Ottilia (Degenstein) Grinsteinner.

She married Joseph Gross on Aug. 16, 1948 at St. Mary Catholic church in Richardton N.D. After their marriage, they raised their family of 10 children in Bismarck, N.D., then Minneapolis Minn., before moving to Beaverton, Ore. They finally settled in rural Woodburn, Ore. and became members of the St. Mary Catholic church in Mt. Angel, Ore.

Frances had a passion for crafting thread into works of art - especially counted cross stitch and crochet, - although her talents extended into any aspect of stitching or sewing. Her artistic passions were exceeded only by her faith in God and devotion to faby: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Frances Grossmily.

She is survived by her husband Joseph; her children, Deborah Lee, Charles Gross, Joseph Gross Jr., Myron Gross, Denise Winter, Kevin Gross, Carla Nawn, Kimberly Cummings and Theresa Gross; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Virginia Hanson.

After having previously been a breast cancer survivor, she was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer in early January and found eternal peace six weeks later. Rosary for her was said on Feb. 28, 2014 followed by funeral services on March 1, 2014 at St. Mary church in Mt. Angel, Ore.
