Eleanor Kathleen Barbour

Born in Davenport, Iowa in 1915, she was 10 years old when her parents and siblings moved to the Hawthorne district of Portland, Ore.

She lived an active and full life, devoted to her Christian faith, cooking, investing in the stock market, and caring for her family and friends.. She resided in Raleigh Hills in Southwest Portland since 1947. In her teens she worked in the accounting office of the Meier & Frank department store to help out her family, and later in her adult years, she studied child development at Portland State University.

Eleanor was strong-willed, incredibly smart, independent, and very caring. She was married to A.H. ‘Bud’ Barbour who preceded her in death in 1972. He was the love of her life and she never remarried.

She had four brothers and one sister who preceded her in death. She is survived by a son and daughter, three granddaughters, and five great-grandchildren whom she adored.

She will be remembered at a graveside memorial at Finley’s Sunset Hills Cemetery on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 2 p.m., 6801 SW Sunset Hwy, Portland, OR 97225.
