Mary Louise Koppi

Dec. 30, 1918-Sept. 11, 2013

Former Estacada resident Mary Koppi died Wednesday, Sept. 11, in Vancouver, Wash. She was 94.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, in Estacada.

Mary was born Dec. 30, 1918, in Gladstone, N.D., to Earl and Mable Neal. She graduated from high school in 1937 and went on to Dickinson State College.

Mary married Mike Koppi on Nov. 28, 1938, in Dickinson. They moved to Estacada in 1976.

Mary taught at Timber Lake Job Corps for 12 years, retiring in the late 1970s. She was an artist and member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by Mike in 2000. Mary is survived by her son, Rob Koppi; daughters, Judy Spencer and Lorraine Hawley; sister, Minnie Gates; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Estacada Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.

Deanna Dale McDowell

Oct. 10, 1943-Sept. 2, 2013

Former Gresham resident Deanna Dale McDowell died Monday, Sept. 2, after a battle with cancer, in Wasco County. She was 69.

Services were held Sunday, Sept. 15, at the Mauplin High School gymnasium.

Deanna was born Oct. 10, 1943, in Portland to William and Florence Walker. She graduated from Lake Oswego High School and attended Portland State University, leaving school to marry Thomas J. McDowell on Oct. 19, 1963.

Deanna worked in the banking business, retiring from U.S. Bank in 1998. The couple moved to the Wamic/Smock Prairie area of southern Wasco County.

A devout volunteer, Deanna served in leadership roles for a variety of Gresham organizations, including the Gresham Chamber Board of Directors, Soroptimist International of Gresham and Windjam NW Jazz Festival, along with other organizations throughout Oregon.

Deanna was preceded in death by her son, Anthony, and daughter, Tobi. She is survived by her husband; sons, Theodore and Timothy; sister, Karen; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Deschutes Rim Health Clinic, P.O Box 219, Maupin, 97037-0219.

Lydia A. Wagner

Funeral service for Gresham resident, Lydia A. Wagner will be held on Wednesday, September 18 @ 11:00 A.M. @ Saved By Grace Lutheran Church, 2010 NE Division.

Committal service will be at Willamette National Cemetery.

Lydia died on Sept 12, 2013 in Boring Oregon at the age of 93.

Lydia Wagner was born on October 3, 1919 in Thayer Co, Byron, Neb., the second of six children born to Theodore & Sopia (Meyer) Duensing. In March of 1927 Lydia moved with her parents to a farm at Norton Kansas. She received her early education there at Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School in Norton.

On Sept 23, 1943 Lydia was united in marriage to Elmer Wagner at Sandy Oregon. They made their first home in Tacoma WA. where Elmer was stationed at McCord Field during WWII. After the war ended they came to Gresham where they built and made their home since 1946.

They were blessed with their sons; Larry of Prineville Or., Lonnie of Boring Or., & Steve of Gresham, Or.,

One sister : Clara Thiele of Norton Kansas.

Lydia was preceded in death by 2 brothers & 2 sisters.

10 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren.

Lydia was a life long member of the Lutheran faith, taught Sunday School in her early years and worked at Whalley’s Nursery in Fairview and enjoyed gardening.
