Vivian Claudean Gokey

April 19, 1921-Nov. 4, 2013

Longtime Sandy resident Vivian Gokey died Monday, Nov. 4. She was 92.

A funeral service was held Sunday, Nov. 10, at Sandy Funeral Home.

Vivian Claudean (Millhollin) Gokey was born April 19, 1921, in Venita, Okla., to Jasper and Louise (Daughtery) Millhollin. She was raised in Oklahoma, where she attended Wyandotte Indian School.

Vivian married Frank Gokey on Sept. 9, 1950, in Shawnee, Okla. In 1952, the couple loaded their 1931 Model A and moved to Oregon. They settled in Sandy in 1961.

Vivian enjoyed cooking — no one ever left her home hungry — canning, sewing, quilting and gardening.

Survivors include her husband, Frank; children, Loretta Cansler, Robin Timblin and Franklin, Floyd and Douglas Gokey; four siblings; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Sandy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
