Katherine G. White

Born August 13, 1928 - September 29, 2013-

Katherine G. White, 85, of Madras passed away at her home in Gateway on Sept. 29, 2013, surrounded by her children.

Kate was born in Victorville, Calif., to William and Alberta Osborne. She moved to Gold Beach, Ore., as a young girl. When she was 14, she moved to Prineville.

As a young woman, Kate was a cook on various ranches in the Prineville area. She loved the ranching life, horses and cattle. In 1947, she served on the Royal Court of the Crooked River Roundup.

Kate obtained her nursing degree and enjoyed that profession until she married Hudson K. “Kimmy” White in 1961. The two then led a diverse life by forming their own trucking business known as K2 Cattle Company, with the motto, “We will haul anything, anywhere.” And they did.

Kate is survived by her brother, Albert Osborne of Gresham; three sons, William Cartner, George Cartner, Duke White; daughter, Cody Partin; and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Kimmy, and son Dale Cartner.

She requested cremation and a private ceremony for family. She also requested to have her remains next to her husband at the private cemetery at Hay Creek Ranch. Kim and Kate had many fond memories of Hay Creek, where Kim grew up. And that’s another story …
