Donna Young Gilmour

April 4, 1931 - October 11, 2013-

Portland resident Donna Young Gilmour, 82, passed away Oct. 11, 2013, after a year-long battle with brain cancer.

She was born on April 4, 1931, in Portland, to Art and Billie Blair. In 1950, she married Mel Dominique, and they had three daughters.

Donna started her own tax preparation business in 1981 and retired in 2012. She was active in her professional association, the Oregon Association of Tax Consultants, and held all the chairs at various times. She also served as chairman of the Oregon State Board of Tax Professionals.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Portland, and enjoyed the church, her many friends, traveling, doing jigsaw puzzles, her grandchildren and her life.

Survivors include her husband, Gayle Gilmour of Portland; daughters, Susan Radford and husband Jerry of Madras, Jan Balius and husband Denny of Portland, and Patti Robbins and husband David of Prineville; eight grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Oct. 25. at the First Christian Church, 1314 Park Avenue S.W., in Portland.

Her family is greatly indebted to Willamette Valley Hospice for the excellent, tender, thoughtful care provided in her last months.
