Tom Grant

March 29, 1940- November 1, 2013-

Tom Grant Tom Grant lost his long battle with Leukemia and was promoted to heaven on November 1, 2013 surrounded by his family.

Tom was born in Oregon City, March 29, 1940 to James and Julie (Barkham) Grant. He married the love of his life, June (Tong) Grant on July 12, 1959. Tom served his country by joining the Army from 1958 to 1961 with his beautiful bride faithfully by his side. Tom attended school in Madras and attended Oregon Institute of Technology in 1965.

Tom is survived by his wife, June Grant, daughter Monica (Grant) and husband Phil Thomas, son Mark Grant and his fiance' Rhonda Naef, his beloved 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, (also his constant canine companion, Lilee). Preceding Tom in death were his parents, Jim Grant and Julia White and brother Jiggs Grant.

Tom was a self employed building contractor and inventor of Tom Grant Oarrights. After his love of God and family, was his passion for his Oarright business. Tom Grant Oarrights success is a testament to his faith, his walk with God, plus his unique personality and determination to see his invention succeed.

He had a love for white water rafting. He enjoyed nothing more than being with family and friends, camping, cooking on the barbecue and was famous for his fry bread. Tom was very proud of his Grant family heritage and their contributions to Jefferson County. He proudly told many stories of his early homesteading grandparents and the family store, Grant Groceries south of Madras.

The family would like to give a special thank you to his faithful Doctor Braich and the nurses of Bend Memorial Infusion Clinic. A big thank you also to the nurses on the fourth floor of Saint Charles Bend and hospice nurses from Partners in Care as well as our dear family and friends. He was beloved by many and will be missed.

A service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 11:30 a.m., at the Madras Cornerstone Baptist Church. Internment will be at Gray Butte Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Partners in Care, 2075 N.E. Wyatt Court, Bend, Oregon 97701.
