Doris Eileen Schledewitz

August 5, 1931 - July 8, 2014-

Doris SchledewitzDoris Eileen Dickson Schledewitz was born August 5, 1931 in Glen Elder, Kansas, to parents Leslie M. and Loyce Hadley Dickson.

Doris, her brother Dale, and her parents journeyed from Kansas to Powell Butte when she was three years old. She

attended Powell Butte Elementary and continued on to

Redmond Union High School.

After high school graduation, Doris traveled to Portland for business school which became her career. She worked as a bookkeeper in several Central Oregon businesses for over 40 years. Doris was also very involved in the family farming

business with her husband, Henry.

Among many of Doris’ favorite things to do included being

involved in 4-H and being a 4-H leader, being a member of the garden club, attending Old Time Fiddler’s events, participating in Central Oregon fairs, enjoying her friends at Red Hats and Bunko, playing cards, presenting at extension and especially spending time with her friends and family.

Doris also loved to quilt, garden, and travel – both near

and far.

We were not prepared for her sudden departure. We will miss her positive attitude, that big smile, and the idea that she could do anything in the world. Her drive and determination was an important part of all our lives.

Doris is survived by her three children, Janis Jorgensen of Nampa, Tim Jorgensen of Bend, and Sandra Feigner of Madras; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband and grandson.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to one’s

favorite charity in lieu of flowers.

A Doris Party was held on Sunday, July 13th in Madras. Her ashes will be buried in the family’s gravesite in Redmond in a private ceremony.
