Dorothy A. Pierce

by: SUBMITTED - Dorothy A. Pierce Dorothy Ashby Hunter was born March 18, 1917 in Montreal, Quebec. She graduated from Washington High School in Portland in 1935, and married Merle Pierce in Portland in 1937. She was a longtime resident of the Woodstock neighborhood.

Dorothy and Merle were members of the Happy Rockers Square Dance Club in Gladstone for many years. She was the registrar for Portland Council of Camp Fire Girls until her retirement in 1982. Dorothy was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Woodstock, where she managed the Mustard Seed Thrift shop until 2009, when she moved to the Beaverton Lodge Retirement Residence.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Merle, and by her brother John Hunter. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Thoreson of Henderson, Nevada; and Janet Jackson (Ken) of Forest Grove, Oregon; by her grandchildren, David Thoreson (Christina), Daren Jackson (Cory), Michael Thoreson, and Krista Jackson DeSanno (Bryan); and by four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at All Saints Episcopal Church on February 21. Donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to her church, or to Camp Fire Columbia.
