Eugene "Gene" Bigham

September 5, 1936 to January 4, 2014 -

Eugene 'Gene' BighamWith loving family members close by his side, Gene passed away peacefully on Saturday night, January 4th, 2014 at the age of 77.

Gene was a kind man with many friends and family who loved him dearly. He was a fine craftsman and there was very little he didn’t know how to repair, build or remodel; always with attention to the smallest detail. In recent years, he took up stained glass art and it wasn’t a surprise to anyone that knew him that he would go on to produce some beautiful works. Gene was also known to play a friendly game of poker now and then...never for high stakes, but simply for the love of the game, camaraderie and fellowship. Upon news of his passing, an overwhelming number of his card playing buddies held a tribute game for him to honor him and show his family how much he was appreciated and will be missed around the card table. As his family, we never knew he had such a large and loving bunch of game night friends and we were humbled by their kind and thoughtful gesture.

Gene was a veteran and served in the US Marine Corp towards the end of the Korean War Conflict. In 1957, he married Loretta McKinnon and they had two children, Michael and Rebecca, raising them together in Southern California, until they divorced in 1969.

In 1970, Gene married Sharon Lundy, whom he recently shared a 43rd wedding anniversary on October 9th.

Gene is survived and will be missed by his wife Sharon, son Mike Bigham, daughter Becky Bigham, stepdaughters Kay Merkle and Luanne Lundy, stepsons Doug and Darren Lundy, thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and the spouses of all his sons and daughters listed above.

Honoring Gene’s wishes, the family will hold a private memorial in lieu of a funeral service.
