Terry O. Farness

Terry O. Farness of Columbia City died Aug. 28, 2013, at his home. He was 70.

Mr. Farness was born Feb. 28, 1943, to Harold and Nile (Oliver) Farness in Portland.

Raided in the West Union area of Hillsboro, he graduated from Hillsboro High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam conflict.

On Oct. 27, 1972, he married Rose Devlin in Tigard. The couple resided in Columbia City for the past 14 years.

A truck driver for most of his working life, he had been a school bus driver for the last three years.

He was a huge NASCAR fan, and drove race cars at Portland Speedway and River City Speedway in St. Helens from 1974-1990. He was also an official at both tracks for 15 years.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rose Farness; daughter, Donna Evenhus and her partner, Curt Nusom; sons, Terry Farness and his wife Traci, Eddie Farness and his wife Susie, and Hal Farness; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Wednesday Sept. 4 at the Donelson-Fir Lawn Memorial Center in Hillsboro.

Interment followed at Valley Memorial Park in Hillsboro.
