August 17, 1956 - April 16, 2014

by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Martin David EllisMartin David Ellis, 57, passed away on the evening of Wednesday, April the 16th in a tragic motorcycle accident.

He is survived by his sisters, Jane Laremore, Carolyn Wray, Barbara Bear, and Laura Ellis, his son, Jesse Ellis, his grandson, Rowan Ellis, and many more family, friends, and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Jean M. Ellis, who passed on December 19th, 2013.

Martin was born on August 17th, 1956 to Jay Martin and Jean M. Ellis. He was a concrete layer in his younger years and later a building inspector for Washington County. He derived joy from riding his Harley and spending time with his friends. The American Legion and Clancy’s in Sherwood were among a few of Martin’s frequented places. Martin was a father, son, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He was very proud of his new grandson and looked forward to his role as “Papa Martin.”

Martin was good with his hands, and was a hard worker all of his life until becoming disabled. He didn’t, however, let health issues stop him from doing what he loved, which was riding. Martin’s passing was unexpected and heartbreaking for those who knew him. We are saddened by his passing, but grateful for the time we had with him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial will be held in honor and celebration of Martin’s life, Saturday, April 26th at 3pm at The American Legion on 22548 SW Pine Street, Sherwood, Oregon.
