Florence Mae Rasmussen

May 5, 1914 - Sept. 1, 2013


Florence May (Templeton) Rasmussen died Sept. 1, 2013. She was 99.

Mrs. Rasmussen was born in Garden Home, Ore., to Otto and Minnie Johnson. She spent most of her life in the Garden Home, Multnomah and Wilsonville areas. She graduated from Lincoln High Girls Polytechnic School.

She married Irving Frank Templeton on Sept. 21, 1935. The couple adopted two children, Larry and Julie. Mr. Templeton died in 1979.

She later married Erling Rasmussen; he also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Rasmussen served as a civilian employee of the U.S. Navy while her first husband was stationed in New York during World War II. She served as a Red Cross nurse at the Portland Veterans Administration Hospital in Portland. She was heavily involved with the Mothers of Servicemen during the Vietnam War era. She was a member of the Eastern Star Orenomah, Tigard chapter, and the Quadrille Club. She enjoyed travel, cards, square dancing, baking, gardening and sewing.

Survivors include her daughter, Julie Klink; five grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Her son, Larry Templeton, preceded her in death, as did sisters Evelyn Johnston and Dorothy Youngbar.

Services have been held.
