Robert W. Kaiser

by: SUBMITTED - Robert W. KaiserRobert W. Kaiser was born February 6, 1923 and passed away peacefully at Marquis Care Center Wilsonville, Ore. on Saturday, August 31, 2013. He was 90 years old.

Robert was born in Willamette, Ore. to Frank and Frances Kaiser and graduated from West Linn High School in 1941. In 1943 he married Violet Atherton; the couple had three children and just recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Robert worked on the paper machines for Crown Zellerbach from 1946 until his retirement in 1985. He also farmed 40 acres with a variety of animals and agriculture. As a lifetime member of the Oregon City Elks he participated in numerous volunteer activities that he enjoyed and earned “Elk of the Year” in 1989. He was also known as the local Santa and would surprise many families during the holidays. Later in life he would plant a small field of pumpkins and was entertained by the many families who would come and pick their pumpkins.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Violet, and their three children, Betty McRobbie (David), Beverly Horn (John) and Don Kaiser (Lori); eight grandchildren, Jeff, Bryan, Travis, Patti, Jim, Jason, Robert, Kelsie and their families including 14 great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Kaiser.

A Celebration of Life will be on Sept. 15 at the Oregon City Elks from 2 to 4 p.m. Private family internment handled by Riverview Abbey in Portland.
