Norma Gallagher

Norma Gallagher died Aug. 7. 2013. She was 86.

She was born Jan. 8, 1927, in Birmingham, Ala. Her husband was Joseph Gallagher.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Aug. 17, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 704 Patrol Street, Molalla.

Ray Ezel Philpot

Ray Ezel Philpot, of Hubbard, died on Aug. 10, 2013. He was 87.

He was born Aug. 19, 1925, in Stigler, Okla., to Lee and Mamie Philpot.

He had three brothers and one sister. Mr. Philpot and his wife, Loragene Rose have been married for 65 years.

He is survived by his wife Loragene Rose; his children, Diana Hoober, Larry Philpot, Debbie Williams, Linda Rieder, Mike Philpot, and Mark Philpot; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m., Aug. 17, at Woodburn Foursquare Church, 1175 East Lincoln Street, Woodburn.

Geraldine Looney Cain

Geraldine Looney Cain died on July 4, 2013. She was born in 1926 in Oregon City to Otto Looney and Ethel Russel Looney.

She attended Teasel Creek Grade School and also attended Molalla High School, where she was a member of the high school’s band. In 1943, she met Robert Cain. They married and he soon left to serve in the United States Marine Corp. in the South Pacific. During that time, Mrs. Cain lived with her parents at the family home in Molalla.

In 2003, they relocated from Canby to Heavner, Okla. to be closer to family. There they built a home and were residents until her recent death.

She was a home maker and is remembered as a kind, caring and thoughtful woman and wife of 70 years. She is also especially remembered as a good cook and baker. Her Sunday fried chicken dinners and gatherings with her family were memorable.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Cain Hutchinson, of Heavner, Okla.; her brother, Allen Looney, of Woodburn; nephew, Gary Looney, of Santa Rosa, Calif.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; son, Robert Jr.; and brothers, Harold Looney and Glen Looney.

She will be interned at Zion Cemetery in Canby.

Avon J. Ramberg

Avon J. Ramberg, of Molalla, died Aug. 7, 2013. She was 90.

She was born June 23, 1923, in Caldwell, Idaho to Raymond and Marie Simmons. She married Harold C. Ramberg June 25, 1949.

She grew up on a farm near Monitor and graduated from Molalla High School in 1941. Mrs. Ramberg attended Mt. Angel Academy. She graduated from nursing school in Astoria and worked as a registered nurse, at Providence Hospital, in Portland. After the birth of her children she became a full-time homemaker. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by her children, Steven Ramberg, of Galt, Calif. and Julie Birk, of Molalla; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service at noon, August 14, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Molalla. David Pederson will be officiating and the burial site will be at Willamette National Cemetery.
