Mabel Liedtke

July 18, 1920-Oct. 27, 2013-

Mabel Liedtke died Oct. 27, 2013 after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 93. She was born July 18, 1920 in Beatrice Neb., where she grew up on a large farm. While living in Beatrice she met John Liedtke and they married in 1942. They moved and lived for a few years in Salina, Kan., and then moved with their three children to Portland in l955. During 1966 they bought a farm in Colton where they raised Angus cattle, American Saddlebred horses and Welsh ponies. She loved the horses and enjoyed going to the shows with daughter Pam. She also loved to sew and cook and was excellent at both. In 1990 they sold the farm and moved to a smaller place in Oregon City and she eventually moved back to Portland. She spent the last few years in the loving care of Claire Bridge of Troutdale.

Mabel is survived by son, Mike Liedtke; daughter, Pam Christensen and son-law Steve Christensen; brother, Donald Camp; two grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and a niece.

Mrs. Liedtke was preceded in death by husband, John Liedtke; daughter, Patricia Stephens; and brother, Walter Camp. There will be a small family gathering at the internment at 10:30 a.m., Nov. 8 at Willamette National Cemetery.
