Austin M. "Bud" Fields

Austin M. 'Bud' FieldsFormer Wheatland resident, who resided in Molalla, Austin M. “Bud” Fields passed away Thanksgiving Day surrounded by family & friends.

He was born in Wheatland, Yamhill County, Oregon on July 4th 1932 to Smith & Marie (Beaty) Fields. Bud graduated Wheatland Grade School in June 1946 and Amity High School in June 1950. He joined the U.S. Navy in December 1950, during the Korean Conflict, and worked as a CS2. He spent one year in Alaska and 2 ½ years on the escort carrier USS Sicily in the South Pacific.

Bud married Earline Twigger on June 7th 1953. They were married more than 50 years before Earline passed away on January 7th 2004. During their marriage they lived in Klamath Falls, Portland, Colton, Milwaukie, and Molalla, Oregon.

He worked for many years at S & H Green Stamps and retired after 20 years as a truck driver and warehouse foreman for Portland Public Schools.

Austin was the youngest of eight children and is survived by one sister, Verdella Speer of McMinnville and his two beloved children Austin M. Fields, Jr. and Marie L. Reed, both of Molalla. He is also survived by four grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life was held at Molalla Funeral Chapel in Molalla, Oregon on Wednesday, December 4th at 3:00PM.
