Zelma Curry

October 24, 1911 - September 18, 2013

Newberg resident Zelma Eugenia Curry died Sept. 18, 2013. She was 101.

She was born Oct. 24, 1911, in Scotland County, Mo., to Ed and Beulah (Cassingham) Rush.

On May 13, 1934, she married Clark Curry.

A member of the Grace Baptist Church Newberg, she was an avid quilter, restored old furniture and worked in rural Newberg schools as a teacher and cafeteria supervisor.

Survivors include: daughters Carla Herring, of Tualatin, Cathie Rowlings, of Portland, and Janelle Gilmore, of Madras; brother James Rush, of Arizona; sister Verlee Ray, of Georgia; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in January 1967; brothers Lewis and Stan Rush; sister Jo Baird; and both parents.

A memorial ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Grace Baptist Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Friendsview Residents Assistance Fund, 1301 E. Fulton St., Newberg, OR 97132.
