Newberg resident Kenneth Ray Lawson died Sept. 26, 2013. He was 80.
He was born Aug. 18, 1933 to Thomas and Anna (Watkins) Lawson in Neosho, Mo.
He worked as a security officer for Burns Security guarding the local paper mill, A-dec and other Yamhill County businesses until he retired. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He also enjoyed singing, played several musical instruments and wrote songs.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sons William and Michael.
Survivors include: wife Ruby; sons Johnny, of McMinnville, and Christopher, of Amity; daughters Julie Bush, of Carlton, Connie Martin, of Canby, Carrol Callahan, of Orlando, Fla., and Darlene Hill, of Sherwood; brothers Jim Lawson, of Joplin, Mo., and Ottie Lawson of Carthedge, Mo.; 33 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Oct. 3 at Attrells Newberg Funeral Chapel. Vault Interment will follow at Newberg Friends Cemetery. Chapel viewing and visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 2, and from 8 a.m. until the service Oct. 3. Online condolences can be made at www.attrells. com.
