Jerry (Jerald) Allan Wright

August 11, 1946 to December 15, 2013

Jerry A. WrightCancer took Jerry’s body but could not touch his real life in Christ, his Savior. “Death was swallowed up in victory.” 1 Cor. 15:54. Jerry was born in Newberg, Oregon, to Bill and Opal Wright, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Tamara Weisshaar, 47 years ago. Jerry and Tamara resided in Newberg until nine years ago when they moved to King City, Oregon.

Jerry will be remembered for his ready smile and gift for gab which won him many friends and served him well in career and community where he knew no stranger. Jerry was a consummate salesman, whether it was cars, hardwoods, or auto parts and was happiest when he was helping someone. Jerry’s retirement activities included driving school bus for Sherwood School District during the last three years, playing some golf and chauffeuring Tamara anywhere she wanted to go. Jerry will be remembered, too, for his undivided devotion to his family, his readiness to forgive, his joy in friendship and his positive outlook. Jerry’s most treasured memories were of Suttle Lake campfires, waterskiing, fishing, and watching his sons enjoy the things that gave him so much happiness.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Tamara; his sons, Timothy and Anthony; his mother, Opal; brother, William; grandsons, Austen and Colten; daughter-in-law, Tamara; mother-in-law, Clarice Weisshaar; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Vicki Weisshaar Clock and Ken; Robin Weisshaar, and Lisa Weisshaar Welle and Bob; as well as five nieces, four nephews, four great-nieces, and six great-nephews.

Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Newberg Christian Church, 2315 Villa Road, Newberg. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Jerry’s name to Legacy Hospice - McMinnville, 2275 N.E. McDaniel Lane, McMinnville, OR 97128 or Portland Rescue Mission. Disposition by cremation, Autumn.
