Eli Pekkola

September 1, 1922 — April 12, 2014

Eli Erland Pekkola was born September 1, 1922 in Kintyre, ND. He was the last of seven children born to Anton Pekkola and Hilda Maki.

The Pekkolas moved to Carlton, OR, when Eli was very young and he lived in the family home until his passing. A sudden illness took him on April 12, 2014 at age 91.

He served as part of the “Greatest Generation” during World War II in the Philippines. After his return he worked for over 25 years for the Willamina Lumber plant while also farming the Carlton property. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. His mind was sharp and his heart was gentle.

Eli was a bachelor much beloved by nephews Dennis Hermans, Don McInnis, Norman Pekkola, Conrad Pekkola, Gary Dixon and nieces Judy Berry, Carol Pekkola and Kathy Dixon. He will be sorely missed by all the wonderful friends and great- and great-great-nieces and nephews who loved him.

By Eli’s request a celebration of life will be held at a future date. Private entombment was at Evergreen Memorial Park Mausoleum. Please sign the online guest book by leaving a condolence at www.macyandson.com.
