Galen Allen, of Dayton, died April 27, 2014, in Newberg. He was born October 7, 1949, in Grangeville, Idaho to Lawrence and Velda (Weber) Allen. At age 9, the family moved to Lewiston, Idaho. In 1966, the family moved to Yakima, Washington, where Galen graduated from West Valley High in 1967. He graduated from Perry Technical Institute in 1969. Galen worked at A-dec as a machinist, retiring in 2000.
Galen and his wife, Evelyn, built a house in Newberg, doing most of the work themselves. They later sold it and built a home in Dayton. Galen loved woodworking, building model cars, traveling in his RV, playing guitar, and old cars. He was a member of North Valley Cruzzers car club.
Galen was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, and parents, Lawrence and Velda Allen. Survivors include brothers Keith, of Washougal, and Roger, of Newberg; and a niece, Shelly, of Vancouver.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 22 at Attrells Funeral Chapel, 207 Villa Road, Newberg.
