Donald Richert died Oct. 18, 2013 at Hope Village-Marquis Care in Canby at the age of 83. He was born June 30, 1930 in Glendive, Mont., to Lillian and Toby Richert. He attended elementary and High School in Glendive, Mont., and Northwestern Bible college in Minneapolis, Minn. He was in the US Army in 1951-1953 as a medic and served in Germany. He married Hazel Reynolds June 8, 1955 in Minneapolis, Minn. He worked in farming in Portland, Dallas, and Wilsonville, and served over 20 years as the church janitor for Calvary Mennonite Church in Aurora, where he was a member. He loved camping, fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife Hazel, of Canby, son Jeffrey (Kris) Richert, of Cornelius, son Steven Richert, of Utah, daughter Cynthia Atkins, of Wilsonville, granddaughter, Madisen (Matthew), Kuball, of Hillsboro, brothers Dormer (Lois) Richert, of Dallas, Merwyn (Marie) Richert and James Richert of Salem. Services will be Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Calvary Mennonite Church in Aurora. Kevin Schumacher will be officiating. Burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Calvary Mennonite MDS fund.
