Roland G. Hauser

September 23, 1931 - June 17, 2014 -


Roland G. Hauser, 82, died June 17, 2014, at home in Canby.

He was born Sept. 23, 1931, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Robin and Lillyan Hauser.

He graduated from high school in 1949 in Parshall, N.D., and from the Holiness Methodist School of Theology in 1953.

He worked on a farm, combining during his teen years, and drove school buses and delivered mail in Colbert, Ore.

On June 5, 1953, he married Kay Hauser in Duluth, Minn.

He served as pastor of Canby Evangelical Church from 1985 to his retirement in 1995 and then as a part-time staff member at Bethany Evangelical Free Church.

He sang in the Hauser Harmoniers and the Gospel Gleemen for years.

He previously served as pastor at Colbert Holiness Methodist Church, Glenfair Evangelical Church in Portland and the Labish Center Evangelical Church in Salem.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, sons, Steve, of Denver, Colo., Dale, of Canby, Carl, of Albany, and David, of Aurora; daughters, Sherry Schock, currently in China, and Sandi Hall, of Gresham; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A service will be held Saturday, July 5, at 1 p.m. at Bethany Evangelical Free Church in Canby with the Rev. Gary Schuknecht officiating. Burial will be at Zion Cemetery.
