Mae Julia Meter
On May 11, 1917 Mae Julia Meter, entered this world one of nine children born to William and Julia Buss in Fulda, Minn. She passed away June 2, 2014 in Oregon City, OR at the age of 97. Mae was educated in Fulda, Minn. through the eighth grade and received her GED in Oregon in 1961. She came to Oregon in 1941 to visit her sister Luella Albers in Aurora. She was married December 31, 1943 in Aurora, Oregon to Charles Meter. Four children were born to this union. Their first home was in Aurora then moved to a farm in the Dryland area out of Molalla. Mae worked on a tree farm for many years. She belonged to Christ Lutheran Church in Aurora and was active in the ladies sewing groups and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She enjoyed crocheting, and making quilts, afghans, gardening, loved growing flowers and playing checkers.

After retirement she lived in Woodburn Senior Estates then moving to Milwaukie with her niece Judith Puhlman. Mae later moved to Royalton Place, a senior retirement home in Milwaukie and then McLoughlin Place in Oregon City, an assisted living home. She continued enjoying her church activities at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Milwaukie as long as she was able.

She was predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings, her husband Charles Meter in 1987, granddaughter Jill Holter in 2013, son in law Keith Holter in 1987. Her sister Luella Albers, niece Judith Puhlman, and Sandra Beam.

Survived by her four children, Lohre Holter of Springfield VA; Nadine McCray (Larry), Lynwood WA; David Meter (Marilyn), Linwood WA; Larry Meter (Beth), Burleson, TX; nine grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

She was buried beside her husband on June 7, 2014 at a graveside service in Aurora Community Cemetery. Rev. Amie Bruno of King of Kings and Rev. Paul Tayler, retired family friend officiated.
