John Robert Lance

John Robert LanceJohn Robert Lance, 69, died from cancer on Monday, July 28, 2014 in his home at Canby, Oregon. He was born July 6, 1945 in Salem to Joseph ­Edward Lance and Dorothy E. Lund. John was in the drum and bugle corp in the Navy, and was on active duty in Vietnam serving on the USS Luce and USS Ault. Later, he was a drummer in the ­Eugene Highland Bagpipe Band for ten years.

John married Scotty Kay Lloyd on July 19, 1975 in Coos Bay. They were classmates at Lane Community College in the nursing program. After graduation, he worked for the Red Cross for 28 years. Upon retirement, John joined the VFW, and was Commander of the Canby-Aurora post when he passed away. He was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he held positions of leadership.

John is survived by his wife Scotty of Canby; his two older sisters, Deanna Fulton of Eugene, and Jody (Bob) Fletcher of Sweet Home; and his four children, Roy (Terri) Lloyd of Klamath Falls, Norma (Fred) Jemmett of Molalla, Gail (Terry) Little of Canby, and Aaron (Rose Daschel) Lloyd of Milwaukie. He has 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, August 1, 2014.
