J. Patrick Richmond

Former Lake Oswego resident J. Patrick Richmond died July 7, 2013. He was 77.

Mr. Richmond was born in Hot Springs, Ark., to Randle and Gertrude Richmond. He grew up in Pocatello, Idaho, where he attended St. Joseph School. He graduated from Pocatello High School in 1953 and attended Idaho State University before serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Portland State University and was employed by Allstate Insurance Company in Portland. He later worked as a manufacturer’s representative for a New York City women’s apparel company and co-owned a women’s apparel store in the Lake Grove-Tigard area. He also owned a taxi company serving the Lake Oswego and West Linn area.

Inspired by other cultures, Mr. Richmond served as an English teacher in Thailand and later lived in Vietnam and the Philippines.

Survivors include his twin brother, Michael, and his spouse, Alice Richmond, both of Jupiter, Fla.; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Lydia Richmond of Pocatello and Jerry and Mary Richmond of Whitmore, Calif.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
