Edward Cooper

Edward Stewart Cooper of Lake Oswego passed away peacefully on November 30, 2013. Ed was born in Toledo, Ohio January 22, 1931 to Claude and Helen Cooper. After spending his childhood in Toledo, he graduated magna cum laude from the University of Toledo. Upon entering the U.S. Navy, he fulfilled his first assignment in Hawaii. It was then to Officers Academy in Bayone, New Jersey for five months to graduate and be transferred to Charleston,South Carolina and the Isle of Palms.

Ed met his lifelong partner, Marilyn McCluskey, in Toledo, Ohio, through her brother, Clay. Ed and Marilyn were married in 1952. While in the Navy Ed studied for and received his degree in Certified Public Accounting. Ed and Marilyn raised six children; Charles, Elizabeth, Katherine, Carolyn and Robert in Toledo and Perrysburg, Ohio. Margaret was born and raised in Maui, Hawaii, when the family moved there in 1969. Their home was in Kula Kai and lived there until moving to Lake Oswego, Oregon in 1980 to enjoy traveling and a change of pace from the island lifestyle.

For most of his professional life, Ed was an experienced CPA working with large corporations as well as select partnerships and on his own. He was a generous and loving father for his family and provided the finer things in life for them.

Ed was diagnosed with his first cancer in 1996, it was a progression of cancers following one another that lead him to make the final decision to ride out the last one a natural death residing at home with his family and a graceful hospice staff we all loved.

Ed rests peacefully at Willamette National Cemetery
